Bob Henchen and Dennis Dotson:
The Aat of the Duo

Pianist Bob Henschen and trumpeter Dennis Dotson are two of Houston finest jazz artists. They recently performed a duet during Bob's "Titans of Jazz" sextet concert at Ovations in February and it received so much praise that they've decided to make of evening of it May 17. Performing duo is something they both enjoy - playing off and supporting each other, and taking advantage of the open acoustic space that's available. This is a rare opportunity to hear Dennis and Bob in this setting and it should be a night to remember.

Reunion: Bob Henschen Trio in Concert

Jazz pianist Bob Henschen recorded a well-received trio CD, Cravo e Canela, back in 2013 with two of Houston's finest jazz players, bassist Aric Nitzberg and drummer Tim Solook. It's been a while since they played a trio performance together, so this event at Ovations is a special reunion concert. They'll be playing tunes by Billy Strayhorn, Michel Legrand, Tex Allen, Jack DeJohnette, Milton Nascimento and more. Should be a great evening!

Tatiana Eva-Marie - Paris Je Taime!

Tatiana Eva-Marie is a transatlantic bandleader, singer, and actress, born in Switzerland to a musical family, based in Brooklyn. Her mother is a classical violinist of Romani heritage and her dad is a musician and film composer.
Tatiana lived in Paris from the age of 15 where she fell in love with the music and the city of Paris and earned her living singing on the streets of the city.
Her interests have led her to explore a wide range of musical styles, from 1930s pop to modern jazz. Tatiana Eva-Marie's singing is always inspired by her own French and Balkan heritage; a love for the Parisian art scene era spanning the 1920s to the 60s; a passion for Gypsy music; and a deep connection to the Great American Songbook.
Tatiana's passion for the swirl of music that has thoroughly permeated the city of Paris, and for the city itself, is the focus of Paris Je Taime!

Jazz vocalist Emi Takada returns to Houston to perform a live show with Bob Henschen Trio
Born and raised in Japan, Emi began singing at age ten and in 2010, discovered jazz in New York. While living in Houston, she performed regularly with pianist Bob Henschen and other prominent musicians. In 2017, she moved back to Japan, but visits and performs frequently in NYC and Houston.
